"Go...and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you" (Matthew 28:19-20)
We recognize that one of the primary responsibilities of Christ’s church is to engage in evangelism (i.e. converting people to Christ) and discipleship (i.e. maturing disciples in Christ), and we believe that Jesus’ final statements to the disciples in Acts 1 provides insight regarding a missional strategy. In Acts 1:8 Jesus said, "you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth." Jesus' words indicate a missional agenda that progressed outward from the disciples home base of Jerusalem through the Roman province of Judea as well as the culturally diverse region known as Samaria then to the rest of the known world. For our purposes, Jerusalem represents local evangelistic efforts in the greater Pensacola area, Judea represents national evangelistic efforts across the United States, Samaria represents cross-cultural evangelistic efforts, and the earth represents international evangelistic efforts.
